Wooden counting sticks according to the Cuisinaire method are a universal teaching material for developing mathematical skills in children.

They are called variously – a set of counting sticks, colored numbers, colored sticks, colored numbers.

The set contains 56 wooden sticks of 10 different colors with a cross section of 10x10 mm, which differ in length and color. Sticks of the same length have the same color. The longer the stick, the higher the number it represents. The shortest stick (“one”) is 10 mm long and represents the number 1, each subsequent one is 10 mm longer and represents the next serial number: pink – number 2 (20 mm), blue – number 3 (30 mm), etc.

The set also includes 10 double-sided colored cards with tasks of three levels of difficulty. The size of the cards is 10x10 cm.

Using the example of counting sticks, a child quickly, clearly and through play gains an understanding of basic mathematical rules:

  • number and its composition,
  • natural order of numbers,
  • direct and reverse counting,
  • quantities and concepts: bigger, smaller, equal, higher, lower, longer, shorter,
  • orientation on the surface: right, left,
  • addition, subtraction with sticks,
  • dividing a whole into parts.

The sticks are intended for play and learning by children aged 3-8 at home and in educational institutions.
